Cat® engine parts are built tough to provide maximum durability and extended life and many are designed for multiple lives. By properly maintaining lower-level parts, you can help prevent more severe and expensive damage to higher-level engine parts and components, which directly impact your productivity and operating costs. Acting early on repair indicators found through historical data, inspections, condition monitoring alerts, S·O·S fluid analysis results, and more is key to keeping you up and running.

Every engine experiences wear as the result of three things - contact, pressure and relative motion, but Caterpillar components are engineered for reuse. This advantage ensures the right repair is performed at the right time in the lifecycle, giving you control to plan and schedule your repairs.
The amount of wear will result in the number of repair options are available. If repairs are planned and aligned to wear, a repair can be performed to extend life. Once there is major wear and blowby the only options are Dealer Rebuild, Reman or New.

INDICATORSRegular maintenance intervals and proper inspections are critical to predicting the right time for a repair. Planned indicators help identify a window for before-failure repairs. Problem indicators help you fine tune the timing and type of repair. There are both visual and non-visual problem indicators that may be causing a loss in productivity and resulting in a higher cost.
